Work & Edition Details
The Romances presented here are music by a composer in his 20’s. Scriabin’s only romance for voice was recovered posthumously by his biographer Leonid Sabanyev. It was written in 1893 but published in 1920. The committee of the Scriabine Society set up an exclusive contract with the singer Nina Kochetz, who performed the song many times worldwide. The A minor Romance for French horn was written sometime between 1894-97, dedicated to the famous horn player Louis Savart. The published version included a cello part which was not initiated by the composer but added by the publisher in order to sell more copies. This publication is a gesture of affection and humility directed to my friend Wojciech Fudala, cellist in the formidable Polish Cello Quartet and professor at the Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź, Poland.
