Work & Edition Details
Composition for 4 mixed voices SATB a cappella by Mariano Garau - Text from the Song of Songs. The piece Nigra sum is part of the opera "Hildegard e la Vergine Nera" written in 2015 for the Opera Theater of Philadelphia but premiered at the Superior Basilica of Assisi and then performed in the United States. The first version of the work featured only two voices, performed by the female chorus of the International Opera Theater of Philadelphia. In order to make available this piece to more choirs, the composer rewrote it for a four-voice mixed choir, the traditional "SATB". A nice performance is available on the youtube channel of the composer.
