Written at the request of a vocal ensemble from the Dauphiné ("to change of serious music"), this suite is inspired by the principles and recommendations found in collections of good manners and etiquette, in order to perfect one’s education ... The general subject is humorous and imaginative (les gros mots), even offbeat (les gens de maison) and can even be staged or mimed (le baise-main).
