Program note
The Breeze is composed for my son, Balder
It is inspired by the warm summer wind, which can be playful and teasing, just out of reach.
The works begins with repeating chords and a call that gradually becomes more persistent. It is replaced by a lively, playful section that is interrupted by quiet but still restless music that leads to the main theme of the movement. After this comes a new section with an accompaniment and a new theme. They cannot agree on tempo and time, so they are constantly shifted in relation to each other. After a new restless section, the first theme returns in a new version, before the movement ends, with some slow chords and an open question.
