Work & Edition Details
Concert pianist Adam Swayne asked if I'd be interested in a commission for another political piano piece, following my recent feminist piano collection HerStories Unsung (2016) and my first political piece for Adam - Count Me In (2005) - about electoral corruption in the USA, UK and Ukraine. The new piece would be recorded on CD in 2018, so I thought now's the time to capture a moment in the volatile world of politics. The raw material for The People Protesting was derived from transcribing chants which I recorded while attending anti-Trump rallies in American and Britain in 2016 and 2017.
