Work & Edition Details
Commissioned work for the Kirchditmold Kantorei of the Ev. Petrus-Kirchengemeinde Kassel on the occasion of its 100th anniversary. "Michael Töpel has accomplished a true feat with this composition: he succeeded in writing a cantata that credibly brings the medieval Latin text of the 'Te Deum' [...] into the present day, interpreting it and also commenting on it critically in parts." (HNA, 14.06.2011) The demanding work, in which Töpel also uses texts by Reiner Kunze, Rainer Maria Rilke and Dietrich Bonhoeffer, can also be performed by an ambitious amateur choir.
