“Españoles la patria oprimida” was one of the most famous of the songs of the war. The Colección de canciones patrióticas published in Cadiz in 1809 writes of this song: “Canción marcial puesta en música por D P.B.” D.P.B. is no doubt Don Pablo Bonrostro.
