Work & Edition Details
This work, written as a commission for the 78th German Catholic Day in Berlin in 1958, is by no means limited to the world of Catholic faith as liturgical music. The tonal language arises from a lived connection to God and in its simple urgency is of universal expressiveness. The composer has created two versions: the original wind ensemble can be replaced by the organ; the cantata is thus also suitable for lay performances. (Margot Heller)
