Work & Edition Details
Mauro Giuliani’s Variations op. 84 for flute or violin and guitar consist of an introduction, theme, and six variations. The guitar shines in variations 2, 4, and especially in 6 which brings the set to a brilliant ending. This may be the work that Giuliani and his colleague the violinist Mayseder played in Vienna on 18 May 1817. In the original edition, an alternative piano part was also provided. The work has an introduction andante sostenuto, then a theme and six variations.
