Work & Edition Details
This composition was commissioned by the tubist Markus Hötzel: An encore piece was to be delivered that contained all the registers and possibilities of today's tubist's art. Virtuosity was expressly required. Four horns were intended as accompanying instruments. The piece was also recorded on CD with this instrumentation, but the horn players complained about the extreme height that was demanded of them. That is why this virtuoso tuba+4 piece is also available in a notation for brass quintet and in the version for tuba and piano offered here, in which it was a compulsory piece at the International Tuba Competition 2000.
