Work & Edition Details
After visiting the Gerhart Hauptmann Museum in Erkner near Berlin in summer 2008, the idea of creating a Lieder cycle using the author’s texts had settled firmly in my mind. It was not long before the initial vague idea started to take real shape. Everything was made official with the commission of a Lieder cycle from the Gerhart Hauptmann Museum, which was to be premiered to mark the anniversary of the poet’s death, on 6 June 2009 in his former home in Erkner. Accompanied by Annette Töpel on the piano, soprano Anna Palupski performed the cycle for the first time.
