Work & Edition Details
This Partita for brass is based on the chorale 'Was Gott tut, das ist wohlgetan'. Two chorale movements are surrounded by a number of variations of different character which, in order to make the partita appear as a unity, should be played directly after each other. It is also possible to pick out individual variations and use them as a kind of chorale prelude. The musical structure of the partita makes it just as suitable for use in a church service as it is for performance in a concert.
