Work & Edition Details
Mauro Giuliani’s Gran Pot-Pourri op. 126 for flute or violin and guitar uses themes from Rossini, Donizetti, and an Italian popular song. It was first published in Milan in 1827. There are separate parts for the flute and for the violin. The flute and violin parts are in C, that is to say three semitones higher than the guitar which is in A major, so that to play this work the guitar should either be a terz guitar or have a capotasto at the third fret. It has the following sections: Introduzione maestoso Theme and variations on a theme from Rossini’s Zelmira Andante from Rossini’s Semiramide Allegro sostenuto from a Neapolitan song “Managgia pallece”!
