Work & Edition Details
The emergence of musical form is immediately apparent in the opening movement: from an unstructured sound level, which contains only noises without a tangible rhythmic fixation, individual tones and intervals are released, which increasingly become independent and come together to form tone sequences, sound gestures, motivic shapes: the elementary contrast between tone and noise, material and formed, between passing time and mastered, ordered time becomes the occasion for the concerto. But the approaches to the formation of complex musical structures that can be heard in the course of the movement are repeatedly disturbed and interrupted; the formulation of a "theme" does not want to succeed, and on the ground of the unachieved common ground, a cooperation in the contrary arises.
