Work & Edition Details
The figure of Dinu Lipatti stands, in Romanian culture and beyond the country’s borders, in the same orbit as Enescu, Brâncuşi, Eliade… being considered one of the greatest performers of the first half of the twentieth century. Dinu Lipatti’s renown is owed to his wholly exceptional artistic and human qualities, brought to fruition, however, by assiduous, methodical and profound work. The pianist had a brilliant, prophetic vision of the evolution of piano technique and of the art of interpretation. “The composer” appears, evidently, as a continuator of the Enescian style, ingeniously drawing on Romanian folklore, with powerful and innovative aspects of modernity.
