Work & Edition Details
The "Concerto for Pentecost" for male voice, string orchestra, organ and timpani is in two parts. The first part is purely instrumental. The main part for timpani and strings ends after 106 bars with a chorale variation on "Nun bitten wir den Heilgen Geist" for organ and timpani. This is the transition, as it were, to the second part with chant. After a recitative beginning, another arrangement of the chorale follows (ad. lib with solo quartet or choir). The finale is a further recitative part on the Luther text "Faith is a living, daring confidence ...".
