Work & Edition Details
The Heights of Halifax was commissioned by spnm for Tubalate Tuba Quartet. It makes extensive use of the sounds of the industrial machinery that created the landscape of Halifax's 19th and 20th century manufacturing heritage. We hear steam engines and mill engines in all their glory. This also allows these magnificent instruments to explore both their traditional and extended techniques and to introduce these through exciting music to young players.
