Work & Edition Details
In the same instrumentation (cf. ADU-041) for brass ensemble (5 trp., 2 hrn., 4 pos., Tb.) Jürgen Pfiester wrote the three-movement Capriccio for Symphonic Brass Bayreuth. This composition is more traditionally worked than the Prelude, Air and Chaconne, but is also densely, thematically and contrapuntally structured and nevertheless immediately gripping in its melodic and rhythmic conciseness. The premiere by Symphonic Brass Bayreuth took place in 1990.
