Work & Edition Details
The sonatina, expanded to four movements by the cadenza, is framed by two neoclassically oriented corner movements. The centrepiece is the passionate and expressive Largo. Structurally significant for all four movements is a motif in which the third space is filled by two (mostly) upwardly rising second steps. Because of the cyclical connection of all movements, partial performances should be avoided. At most, the first movement could be played separately.
