Work & Edition Details
"Symphonic Dances" - the title is taken from Serge Rachmaninoff's last completed work (op. 45). The processing of the material is symphonic: developing variation, large-scale increases, polyphony of the movement alongside orchestral effects. The dance-like quality is evident in the emphasis on metre, the extensive avoidance of bar changes and the clear disposition of two- and four-bar groups.
