Work & Edition Details
The Puppet Plays are Drude's contribution to the competition for the Ernst Fischer Prize for sophisticated light music in 1992/93, in which he won second prize. He himself once described the composition within his oeuvre as a 'side leap'. It was premiered by WDR on 3.10.1993 and is written for a standard symphony orchestra instrumentation (2,2,2,2 - 4,3,3,0 - timpani, percussion, harp, strings). The composition is not suitable for amateur orchestras.
