Work & Edition Details
The fifth and youngest of the chorale sonatas for 13 brass instruments to Luther's hymn "Verleih uns Frieden gnädiglich" (EG 421) is the only one in a minor key (F minor). The sharply punctuated rhythms and dissonances of the opening create a harsh, almost abrupt sound language that reminds us that we are surrounded by wars, hatred and violence.
