Work & Edition Details
Matthias Drude composed his Nocturne in 1990. The diatonic material of the Phrygian scale forms the basic tonal idea of the composition, which begins with a unison d note in the high register, from which a rhythmically striking three-note motif of the violin then rises, appearing like a magical incantation in ever new variations.
