Work & Edition Details
The two one-movement compositions for a string instrument alone - "Sonata for Violin" and "Allegro for Violoncello" - written in 2001 are the first of their kind in the composer's oeuvre. They form a contra pair. What they have in common is the reference to a free sonata form in which a demarcation of the parts development, recapitulation and coda cannot be clearly made. The two works are opposed above all with regard to their basic character, which is determined by the beginning, and with regard to their dramaturgical course.
